You want to combat age sign appearance? These ingredients are your best allies.

More and more cosmetic brands value the importance of botanicals when it comes to preserving the skins’ youthful appearance. No wonder, because in providing the skin with the best defense and delaying the signs of age, beneficial activities of several plants have been proven. I can go on for days on this topic, so today I just present a small selection of some of these “miracle workers” in random order.

Evening Primrose –  evening primrose seed oil contains a high level of gamma linoleic acid. It intensely nourishes and firms the skin and improves the skins’ cell regeneration.

Blueberry – this fruit is literally packed with antioxidant components, that are very effective in protecting the skin from free radical damage (caused by a.o. excessive sunlight exposure, pollution, stress, etc.) It helps the skin regain suppleness and smoothness.

Raspberry – very high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids which promote a healthy skin. It’s also rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant known for its’ important role in skin repair and conditioning.

Rose – rosehip oil intensely rehydrates and nourishes the skin. It contains vitamin C, an antioxidant as well as Oleic acid, and omega fatty acid that promotes the skin’s suppleness. I love this Pixi Rose Blend Oil, it’s such a treat for the skin!

Hibiscus flower – a source of AHA’s, fruit acids that exfoliate the skin for a healthy appearance and that increase the skin’s moisture level and elasticity. It is also rich in antioxidants and has a soothing effect. It is nicknamed the “botox plant”, because of its’ natural firming and lifting properties (don’t expect it to have a similar instant effect, that would not be very realistic).

Borage – borage seed oil is well known for its’ regenerating and skin firming properties. It contains a high amount of gamma linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that reinforces the skin’s barrier, prevents moisture loss, improves the skin’s elasticity and helps to restore dry and damaged skin.

A brand that has been combining modern technology with benefits obtained by nature down to a science, is Elevatione. Their “Time Stops” range features the best (and the most expensive!) eye contour product I’ve ever laid my hands on is the Eye and Upper Lip Firming Essence. This olive oil based infusion contains hibiscus, raspberry and rose, as well as hyaluronic acid for rapid skin repair. It is further enriched with beneficial ingredients such as argan oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba, shea butter and vitamin E. This serum effectively reduces the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. With prolonged use it smooths out fine lines and improves the skin’s elasticity. Currently I’m trying the Eye Bless Calming cream from Elévatione, I will tell you more about that one later.

Stay fresh & fruity,
Peggy
