Armani Night Light Face & Eyeshadow palette for the sophisticated beautylover. The Giorgio Armani Holiday 2016 Night Light palette was inspired by the chiaroscuro technique used in painting and photography. This technique uses strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. I totally understand Armani’s inspiration as a makeup artist needs to understand the power of highlights and shadows, and how to go from 2D to 3D.
The elegant oval palette has two tiers: one for eyes and one for base. The top part contains a selection of beautifully shimmering gold and bronze combined with a few ashy and warm toned mattes. To create a natural look the mattes are perfect, the colours are well chosen en suit almost every fair to medium skintone. To add a pop of shimmer, or to make the overall look more festive you can layer tje shimmery shades on top or at the inner corners of the eyes. There’s also a dark grey/dark shade which can be used as an eyeliner.
For the shimmery shades, Armani used a high-pearl simplex technology, which produces a soft, blendable finish with a velvety texture. They have a strong pigment, are easy to blend and have no fall-out which is really nice, as often shimmery eyeshadows from high-end brands have almost no pigmentation. As for the mattes, Armani has used a new formula, which binds water within the powders to ensure they don’t feel dry or cakey on the skin.
In the bottom tier we find a Luminous Silk compact powder which Armani claims to be an universal shade. Of course we have to take that with a grain of salt, as on darker skin it would become ashy but it could fit for most yellow based fair skin tones. The powder can be used to blot away any excess shine and has a natural matte finish. The two little slithers contain Maestro Fusion cream foundation which can be used to conceal underneath the eyes or spots, I would like to have seen a bit more quantity as I believe these are too small to use for the full face. The foundation colours are again good for a light to medium skin tone.
The sponges and the eyeshadow brushes -which are not really brushes but applicators- are perfect for on the go but as any professional I prefer to use my own tools.
