Matte lipstick-overload @ The Body ShopDid you believe the matte lips-hype is over? In fashion, where they are a season ahead, you see more and more glossy lips. When it comes to the commercial side of beauty, it certainly isn’t! At least not at TBS, where you can find a new array of colors in liquid and solid lipsticks, all with a matte finish. A few weeks ago, I received them all and I finally tried them out (shame on me, busy busy!)
The packaging of The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquids has the same color as the product, so they’re easy to spot in your makeup pouch, and the black, matte cap with the sponge applicator indicates there’s a matte product inside. Its texture is quite particular, it’s at the same time creamy, light and somewhat powdery. It applies effortlessly and, unlike most liquid lipsticks, it doesn’t dry completely, but stays a bit creamy on the lips. The result is a velvety matte finish. Unfortunately, as most liquid lipsticks do, they dry out my lips. To avoid it, I applied lip balm first, that feels more comfortable. The pigmentation looks fine at first, but especially the darker colors wear off rather quickly and disappeared after about two hours. TBS Matte Lip Liquids are 100% vegetarian and gluten free.
I prefer the texture and pigmentation of The Body Shop Matte Lipstick. The color patch on the black, matte cap shows the color of the bullet. Its formula is enriched with nourishing Brazil nut oil and beeswax, which results in a more comfortable feel on my lips. I find they lasted slightly longer than their liquid sisters, and offer a more even coverage too.
As for colour range, both products have enough shades to offer. I’m sure you’ll find a match!
