Deep Cleansing Oil by DHC, gentle and natural cleansing.

I’ve never made it a secret that I absolutely love oil-based cleansers. In a nutshell, they are gentle to the skin and they allow a thorough cleansing in the blink of an eye. Deep Cleansing Oil, from Japan’s no. 1 direct skincare company, is my latest re-discovery.

DHC’s Deep Cleansing Oil comes in a clear plastic bottle with a handy, mess-free pump system. The formula contains only a few ingredients, the main one being olive oil. I disperse two pumps into my dry hands and gently massage the oil onto my face in small, circular motions for about half a minute, allowing it to dissolve all makeup and impurities. I always try to avoid friction on my skin and this oil glides over my face without any tugging. I remove the oil with a few splashes of lukewarm water. Deep Cleansing Oil is clearly more than your average olive cooking oil, in contact with water it becomes a milky emulsion, that easily rinses off completely, leaving my skin clean and comfortable.

The formula is free of mineral oils, colorants and synthetic perfume and it suits all skin types. I often hear the remark “I have oily skin, I certainly can’t use an oil-based cleanser!”. On the contrary, you should. Do you remember the rule from chemistry class “likes dissolve likes”? It’s simple really, a good oil-based cleanser will dissolve and remove all excess sebum from the skin, without leaving a greasy film. Aggressive cleansers, on the other hand, leave the skin squeaky-clean, stripped of its protective barrier, and your oily skin will immediately respond by producing even more sebum! Don’t forget to store Deep Cleansing Oil in the dark to protect the natural plant-based oils from oxidating.

For a deep cleanse,
Peggy
