Belle de Jour, Kenzoki’s new age-defying face care with Sacred Lotus.

In Asia, the Sacred Lotus stands for elegance, power and eternal beauty. It thrives in even the most extreme environments and it is capable of restoring itself. This inspired Kenzoki to create Belle de Jour, a range of three new age-defying face care products, based on the alchemy of this legendary flower. Kenzoki grows the Sacred Lotus is Laos, the delicate blossoms are harvested by hand during the monsoon season to preserve all their benefits. To the oily complex, derived from these blossoms, Kenzoki add age-defying marine ingredients, such as brown seaweed extract and plankton, which help to support the skin. Belle de Jour suits all skin types and is said to preserve the skin’s youthful appearance, to replenish it and to fight the visible signs of ageing.

Belle de Jour range is comes in a recognizable white packaging, adorned with the pink lotus flower blossom. Sacred Lotus Face Oil has a handy, accurate drop dispenser. It is to applied as a first step in the morning and evening skin care routing, after cleansing. As instructed, I warm 2 drops in the palm of my hands and gently press against them my face, applying a thin layer of oil. The oil is quite liquid and it absorbs immediately, without leaving the slightest greasy feel. My skin feels hydrated and looks dewy. A glance at the ingredients tells me why, this is not really an oil. The main ingredients are water, glycerin, propanediol and pentylene glycol, the last three being skin conditioning agents which help the skin to retain moisture.

Sacred Lotus Face Cream has an airy texture that feels pleasant to the touch. It sinks in quickly and effortlessly, and it leaves my skin feeling well-hydrated and comfortable. It is to be applied morning and evening and claims to revitalize, nourish, plump and illuminate the skin. The illuminating aspect is something I don’t experience.

Similar to all Kenzoki cosmetics I’ve tried, these ones have quite a strong scent to it and it lingers on my skin. Though I find the fresh, flowery scent itself not unpleasant, I prefer my face cream to be less perfumed, if at all.  Belle de Jour range also features Sacred Lotus Serum, I didn’t try this one though.
