Four foundations to discover

In summertime I can get away with a just my day cream or a BB cream. Come autumn I have to wear foundation to look decent, after all, as a makeup artist I can hardly arrive at the studio with uneven skin tone. I do have my trusty products, but curious as I am, I just have to try other ones as well.

MAC Studio Waterweight SPF30 Foundation comes in a glass bottle with a drip dispenser.  It’s my latest addition and M.A.C fan as I am I was really excited to try this one! This lightweight water-based foundation offers sheer coverage, which is great if you have almost perfect skin. It goes on evenly and blends well. In my opinion it’s best suited for normal skin types, it doesn’t last long on my oily T-zone, even with setting powder, and it isn’t the ideal choice for my drier cheek area either. However, for makeup artists we get a different story. It’s perfect for shoots, with or without flashlight. It’s a perfect foundation for model skin in good condition, especially since a fresh and natural skin is top notch. These go straight into my pro-kit!

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation claims to offer flawless skin for up to 15 hours for all skin types. The oil-free, hydrating formula goes on smoothly, it blends like a charm and the medium coverage is buildable to full with a natural-looking semi-matte finish. It’s sweat resistant and transfer-proof, and applied over primer it stays locked without bulging. An ideal foundation to party all night! As a makeup artist I would use it in case I need slightly more coverage for my model.

Looking for a budget foundation with a good price-quality ratio? You might want to try the new L’Oréal Accord Parfait. This liquid foundation comes in 21 shades for cool, warm and neutral skin tones. It nicely unifies the skin, providing medium to full coverage with a fresh, satiny finish. The hydrating formula is said to suit all skin types. If you have dry skin, make sure to moisturize well.

If you have oily skin, one of the best budget-friendly choices is Air MAT by Bourjois Paris. That is, if you’re after medium to full coverage with a matte finish. It’s super lightweight, it goes on smoothly and blends well for a flawless result without mask effect. The rather strong flowery scent wears off after a while. It’s non-comedogenic and promises a 24 hour hold.

To create perfect skin,
Peggy
