NYX Total Control, to customize your coverage!I guess any beauty lover has heard of NYX, an affordable professional makeup brand with LA roots which celebrates its 18th birthday. Nowadays NYX cosmetics are sold worldwide and there are already six brand stores in Belgium.
Total Control, the new liquid drop foundation which comes in a glass bottle with a drop dispenser, has been developed to offer sheer to full coverage, depending on the number of drops you use. It comes in no less than 24 shades with neutral, cool and warm undertones, ranging from Ivory Pale to Deep Espresso. The colors seem to be either too light or too dark for me at first, and since I don’t have a sun kissed face yet, I decide to stick with Buff, a neutral beige. You can always custom blend two shades for your perfect match.
Two drops should offer light coverage, so let’s start with that and build it up. I apply my daily moisturizer and a primer first. Total Control has a very fluid consistency, it practically runs from the dropper, so dose carefully and make sure to shake the bottle before use.
You can just apply it with your fingers and smooth it out with a buffing brush or, for extra control and an even more sheer effect, apply it with a foundation brush, like this rounded one from NYX. I wouldn’t recommend a sponge applicator though, this will soak up too much product. I’m happy with the result: sheer coverage with a natural, velvety matte finish as promised. Four drops are said to offer full coverage, in my experience this is medium coverage. I prefer to stick with that and, if necessary, conceal locally to keep this natural-looking finish going.
Total Control suits all skin types, but if your skin is oily, I recommend using a mattifying primer to remain shine-free, and, for dry skin types, to moisturize thoroughly to avoid dry patches.
