Teaching…more than makeup.
This area is not suitable for every makeup artist, not only do you need to be able to apply makeup correctly, you also need to transmit it in a proper way to your students. Let me tell you why I like to teach and how I started.
Make-up Designory (MUD) was founded in 1997 in Los Angeles, California by accomplished professional make-up artisans and quickly expanded into what it is today – the leading educational system for make-up artistry in the world. MUD – World’s leading make-up School – has it’s own cosmetic line, used by professionals as well as everyday consumer everywhere in the world. The cosmetics line is produced to perfection with quality being the main guideline and a rule.
When I was working as a makeup artist for a few years I was asked to organise makeup workshops for an organisation. In three hours I would introduce a group of lovely ladies to the wonderful world that is makeup and would explain them how to apply makeup according to their face and features. A couple of years later I was approached by a school to give classes to people who wanted to pursue a career as a makeup artist, or beauticians who wanted to refresh their knowledge. After teaching basic makeup for almost three years at that school, I couldn’t find myself in the new structure and I felt that students couldn’t learn enough. As I really enjoyed teaching I applied for a job at Make-Up Designory. Why that particular school? It is simply the best makeup education Belgium has to offer, they are very professional, the courses are detailled and they go further than any other school does. On top, they give you the necessary information about the how and what of working as a professional. Their info meetings are very detailled and the organisation of the school is simply perfect.
